01.06.2018-02.06.2018-#DAPPHACK(Atlanta, United States)

The Space at Grant Park 318 Cherokee Ave, Suite 108 Atlanta GA United States 30312

Join us for twenty-four hours of deep-diving into the blockchain industry’s most cutting-edge developer tools. At #dapphack you’ll build alongside fellow distributed app enthusiasts to turn an existing application into a distributed trustless app, or build a new application from the ground up.

  • No rules (in terms of what you can build other than it needs to be a dapp)
  • Education from experienced speakers, mentors and judges
  • Delicious food and drinks to keep hacking flowing
  • No prior blockchain experience necessary

At the end of the event your team will present your work for 5 minutes to a panel of judges followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. Prize bundles of tech goodies will be given out in three categories – blockstack, ethereum and hyperledger.

Secure your free seat, before the event fills up and register above as a developer, designer, or other!

Sharpen your skill-set or learn blockchain stack development without having to start from scratch. Participants will use the APIs, SDKs and other tools from today’s leading innovators. Tap into decentralized application layer through a full suite of javascript libraries that enable encrypted off chain storage, decentralized authorization and identification of users.

A big thank you to Blockstack, Keep, myCoinvest and the Regency Manning Blockchain Foundry for sponsoring the event and bringing it to Atlanta!

The Nitty Gritty:
Who can attend the hackathon?
Professional and amateur software developers, hardware enthusiasts, embedded system developers are ideal candidates. Front end developers, designers and marketing or business professionals are encouraged to partner with deeper technical experts when creating teams, but are also welcome.

What projects work well for the Hackathon format?
Use this great article as a guide – it explains when it is beneficial to use a blockchain, and when it is not.

How are teams formed? What if I don’t have a team?
Team creation is flexible. You can team up with friends if you plan to come with buds or start (or join) a team the day of the event.

How do I register and is there any cost?
Register here on ticketbase to secure your FREE ticket.

If I have questions, where do I go to get them answered?
Contact Shane Reiser – shanereiser@gmail.com

Will the teams own the code that is developed?
Yes, you keep what you build.

What is the evaluation criteria?

  • Design – Is it easy to understand? Is it easy to use? Is it creative?
  • Awesomeness – Wow factor. Did you build something no one thought was possible? Did you use techniques that are abnormal, often impractical, and weirdly elegant?
  • Functionality – Does it work?

Can I port my existing application to a trustless decentralized one?
Quite possibly, but that depends on the track you choose (blockstack, ethereum or hyperledger) on Devpost. Depending on the complexity of your application, it may be possible to fully decentralize the application layer using blockstack.

Do I need to know Solidity, C ++, and how blockchains work to participate?
Your team should have several skilled programmers, but they do not need to have any prior experience with Solidity, C++ or blockchain technology. Basic to advanced concepts will be covered in tech talks, and participants should follow the setup instructions for their chosen track.

What hardware do I need? What should I bring?
Your laptop, and at least one external monitor per group for peer programming.

Do I need to setup my development environment ahead of time?
Yes! Once you pick which track you would like to go down (bitcoin, ethereum, hyperledger) you can follow the instructions to get setup ahead of time here.

Is food provided?
YES! Enjoy 24 hours of drinks, snacks and meals.
